Cheryl Cole and Pink.. it's amazing how modern technology can make even the worst performing artists (and that's what they are considering they can't write their own songs) sound half reasonable.

Just a pity they weren't born with genuine musical ability.

Uncalled for  Plus, Cheryl does write her own songs :!:
Indeed.

Why are we wasting time discussing whether AC/DC are better then Pink? Who cares? Neither of them combined would exceed the popularity of the Beatles or Elvis in any case.

Play that funky music white boy.
It's going to be a lot harder to entice either the Beatles or Elvis to don the royal blue and white.
Touche. But this was never a debate about who would wear our gear. Pink was the only one being wooed. I think Drexl was a bit miffed we didn't approach Acca Dacca. Can't see them wearing our gear on stage somehow..

"I think Drexl was a bit miffed we didn't approach Acca Dacca" (Chepski)
I don't mind if the club approached some Australian Idols or the cast of Neighbours if they thought it would benefit the club.

"Can't see them wearing our gear on stage somehow" (Chepski)
Brian Johnson (lead singer) has a history of wearing local football jumpers on stage. I presented him with a Nth Melb matchworn jumper during the 2001 tour. This was interstate and he said he would've worn it on stage if we were in Melbourne.

Chepski - the reason I responded was not being mifferd but due to being mystified by your call of:
"Pink is BY FAR THE MOST POPULAR entertainer of recent times having sold out numerous concerts"

As I mentioned earlier AC/DC were selling out AFL football grounds and the Olympic stadium at a record rate which made your "most popular" call illogical. The "by far" taking it to an even further level.

Then Harvs was talking up the amount of Pink's concerts but so I pointed out the big difference in stadium size for each artist. Also Pink was content to play several shows over a long period of time. With AC/DC there is a much smaller window for their Aussie tour. If they could add more shows based on demand they would "by far" exceed Pink's total attendance - this cannot be disputed.

Chepski if you want stand by your "by far the most popular" call - go for it. You don't seem to want to acknowledge any error on that part.

"There'd be plenty of people who bought Black Ice for one of the two following reasons. 1. They'd hate to have an incomplete set of AC/DC albums."
Black Ice has by far exceeded the sales of the previous two albums. The "hate to have an incomplete set of albums" suggestion didn't hold much weight as an incentive to purchase Ballbreaker or Stiff Upper Lip to the high levels of Black Ice

"2. They are hoping it might prove to be a cracker - Razors Edge style - after some comparatively weak offerings in the 20 years since Razors Edge was released."
These days potential buyers get more & more of an idea of an album via illegal downloads, youtube etc and Triple M previewed the album.

Other points:
- The quality of RnR Train is opinion based but it was the lead single from a mega successful album. It must've clicked with alot of album buyers.

- A big reason for War Machine to be on the Iron Man 2 soundtrack is the fact a character named War Machine is introduced in the movie.

- Black Ice was released 28 months ago so how recently it was released is up to the individual

- Black Ice tracks have been sought after for soundtracks & promo:
War Machine (Iron Man 2)
RnR Train (Supernatural tv show)
RnR Train (Criminal Minds tv show)
War Machine (Wrestlemania 2009)
Spoilin' for a Fight (WWE ppv)

- War Machine won AC/DC's first Grammy.

- Black Ice Album & Touring has definitely been very successful for AC/DC and the points you put forward don't explain it imo.

- I went to all 3 NZ gigs and AC/DC are in great form. If you like AC/DC you'll have a great time.

Drexyl, there was never any malice intended. I stand corrected on the popularity of Pink vs AC/DC. I recall however my comments related to the Roo's target audience in this instance being teenagers, particularly of the female persuasion, which I still feel would more sway towards Pink than AC/DC. Unfortunately this is not fact based, just my uneducated opinion.

Just for the record, AC/DC are a fantastic band. Prince is better though.. :)
